Investing is not about beating others at their game, Benjamin Graham & Warren Buffet

Listening to a Warren Buffett interview, I found myself deeply resonating when he mentioned that "investing is not about beating others at their game." He said that this advice was given to him by his mentor, Benjamin Graham.

This statement hits the nail on the head. The essence of investing is not about competing with others, but about embarking on a personal journey to master one's own emotions, biases, and decisions. It requires a focus on individual goals, strategies, and risk tolerance, rather than getting caught up in the futile race of outperforming the market or comparing oneself to others.

The true measure of success in this arena is the extent to which one manages to achieve their personal objectives and uphold their values. While achieving financial independence is important, it should be grounded in a comprehensive understanding of wealth that encompasses not just monetary assets, but also time, freedom, knowledge, skills, and enriching experiences.
